  • Norwegian courses for advances students in the south of Norway - Interested in learning Norwegian in Norway or Hamburg ? I live in Hamburg where I teach German and Norwegian. If you are interested in improving your Norwegian please note the following information on Norwegian courses in Hovden. Hovden is a village in the Setesdal valley, 210 km north of Kristiansand. COURSE DATES FOR HOVDEN: The courses last from one to two weeks, taking place every year · two weeks before Easter (the skiing-season), · the week before Whitsun, · one or two weeks during the summer, · end of September/beginning of October (when the autumn colours are at their best). ACCOMMODATION CABINS We offer modern, cosy cabins with bathroom, fireplace and TV. The cabins are about 20 minutes walking distance from the village. Normally there are 3 bedrooms in each cabin. Most bedrooms have double-beds but usually not more than three people share one cabin, which provides privacy. The cabins have a fully equipped kitchen for meals, etc. and there is a separate dining area in the living room. The village has two hotels, and a nice choice of restaurants, bars and cafés. HOTEL If you prefer to stay in a hotel, I will gladly make reservations for you at one of the hotels. TUITION I am a native speaker of Norwegian and, together with my Norwegian family, I have visited Hovden since 1972. To ensure quality of instruction, class size varies between four and nine participants. Sessions start Mondays at 9.30 a.m. and end Fridays at 2.00 p.m.. There are 6 sessions daily, lasting 45 minutes each. ADVANCED STUDENTS Please let me know the title of your Norwegian text book and the number of the last chapter completed. Courses include practice in spoken Norwegian with students from the local secondary school and a meeting with the librarian who will read fairy tales in Norwegian.
